## Description

You can now give your AI client a deep understanding of Moscow's cultural infrastructure. This MCP connects your agent to detailed records for hundreds of venues, including museums, theatres, and libraries. Instead of searching through broad web results, your agent uses specific tools to find exactly what you need. You can filter museums by collection type like art or history, or find theatres by stage type such as opera or ballet. If you need to find a library near a specific location, the MCP provides the name, phone number, and opening hours. For deeper context, the MCP pulls introductory text from Wikipedia, giving your agent the ability to summarize the history of a specific institution. It's a practical way to turn an AI agent into a local cultural guide for anyone navigating the city.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**How many museums are included in this MCP?**
The MCP provides access to approximately 500 museums in Moscow.

**Can I find opening hours for these venues?**
Yes, the find_museums, find_theatres, and find_libraries tools provide opening hours for the listed institutions.

**Does this MCP provide information in English?**
The Wikipedia summaries provided by the cultural_institution tool are in Russian.

**Can I search for museums by their specific collection type?**
Yes, you can filter museums by types such as art, history, science, military, and more.

**How does the proximity search work?**
You can provide a point or location, and the tools will return venues near those coordinates.

**Do I need an API key?**
No. Every source is keyless and global: OpenStreetMap (Overpass + Nominatim), Open-Meteo and Russian Wikipedia. The MCP defines no credentials.

**Why two views — map and Wikipedia?**
The listings come from Russian Wikipedia’s curated categories (120+ museums, 32 theatres, 37 libraries). The find_* tools give the map view with coordinates; the listing tools give the curated encyclopaedia view.

**Why are the counts bigger than the rows I get?**
Yes. OSM maps most large venues as areas (museum buildings, theatre blocks), and every list tool uses the nwr selector, so nodes, ways and relations all count.

**Can I find museums near a point?**
Pass lat + lon (and optionally km, 0.1–25) and the query narrows to a radius instead of the whole city. Do it before a long list — a citywide scan is capped at 200 rows.
