Code Against Real SQS Messages
This tool's job is to pull live data from an Amazon SQS Queue right into your coding session. Use the `receive_messages` tool in Cursor's agent chat. The agent gets a real message, with its actual structure and data. Then, tell the agent: "Write a Python function to parse this." It will generate the code based on the real message, not a guess. This completely removes the need to create and manage mock data files for your SQS consumers.
Inject Test Messages from Your Editor
You can also push messages into the queue without leaving your editor. The `send_message` tool lets you tell the agent to fire a specific JSON payload or string into SQS. It’s a fast way to trigger a downstream service or test how your worker handles a particular edge case. Combine this with `delete_message` to clean up after your tests. This MCP Server gives you a full send-receive-delete cycle, letting you debug your message-based architecture from the same window where you write the code.
Your SQS-Aware Coding Partner
With this MCP toolset, Cursor's agent becomes aware of your messaging infrastructure. You're not just asking it to write code in a vacuum; you're giving it the ability to interact with a live system. This changes how you build things. You can have a conversation like, "Pull a message from the dev queue, show it to me, now write a Rust struct that matches it, and finally, delete the message." The agent executes each step using the provided tools, turning a complex task into a simple chat.
