Expose Apiary tools to your Google ADK agents

Large-scale enterprise systems require deep context to write and update APIs. This MCP Server exposes tools like `list_team_apis` and `get_api` directly to your Gemini-powered agents. The agent can pull down massive API Blueprint files and process them instantly using Gemini's million-token context window. You initialize this by wrapping the Vinkius HTTP transport in an `McpToolset`. Pass this toolset into your `LlmAgent` to let the model decide when to fetch blueprints or check team configurations.

Sync BigQuery schemas with Apiary blueprints

Keeping your database schemas and API designs in sync is a constant headache. Your agent can query your BigQuery tables, compare the columns with your API documentation, and use `publish_blueprint` to update Apiary. This keeps your external documentation perfectly aligned with your actual data warehouses. By deploying this MCP tool, the agent handles the translation layer between SQL schemas and API Blueprint Markdown. No manual copying, no outdated endpoints, and no broken mock servers.

Manage API documentation and mock servers

Developers need reliable mock servers to build frontends in parallel. Your agent can call `get_doc_url` to fetch mock endpoints and documentation links instantly. It can then share these URLs across your internal enterprise chat tools or update your deployment configurations automatically. When teams change, the agent uses `list_team_members` to verify who has access to these mock environments. This keeps your API design lifecycle organized without manual administrative overhead.

Setup guide

Set up Apiary MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Apiary tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Apiary_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Apiary tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Apiary MCP in Google ADK

Install the Google ADK package and initialize the MCP toolset with your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass that toolset object into the `tools` parameter of your `LlmAgent` to expose the API design tools.
Yes, you can pass a list of specific tool names to the toolset parameters to restrict exposure. This prevents the agent from running destructive actions like `publish_blueprint` if you only want it to read data.
Yes, the framework supports both connection methods. Connecting to the managed Vinkius platform is easiest via the HTTP transport using your single endpoint token.
Gemini handles massive files easily due to its long-context window. The agent can read a huge blueprint via `get_api` and refactor the entire design in a single pass.
Your API blueprints, team rosters, and test results are processed inside a secure, ephemeral V8 isolate. Vinkius manages the authentication layer, meaning your raw Apiary tokens are never exposed to the MCP client or stored in plain text.
