Run collaborative post reviews with this MCP Server

The `create_update` tool is the final step in a multi-agent editorial pipeline. A creative agent drafts the copy, a compliance agent checks for brand safety, and a manager agent triggers the post schedule. If the compliance agent flags an issue, the draft goes back for edits. Once they reach consensus, the manager agent schedules the approved text on Buffer.

Let AutoGen agents manage your queue order

The `shuffle_updates` tool allows your AutoGen agents to randomize your queue when post timing needs a refresh. A performance agent analyzes user engagement while a scheduling agent decides if the queue is stale. They debate the optimal sequence, then call `reorder_updates` to apply the changes. This lets your agents optimize your calendar without you stepping in to resolve scheduling conflicts.

Verify connected social channels across AutoGen agents

The `list_profiles` tool gives your agents visibility into which social networks are active. A discovery agent fetches the profile list and shares it with the routing agent during their conversation. The agents negotiate which platform gets which post based on the profile details returned by `get_profile`. This prevents your team of agents from sending platform-incompatible media to the wrong queue.

Setup guide

Set up Buffer MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Buffer tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Buffer_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Buffer data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Buffer MCP in AutoGen

You register the Buffer MCP Server tools with the AssistantAgent using the AutoGen MCP extension. The agents can then call these tools during their conversations.
Yes, if a consensus is reached that a post is outdated, the manager agent uses `delete_update` to remove it. The decision is made through multi-agent debate before the tool is called.
One agent uses `list_pending_updates` to inspect the queue, while another uses `get_config` to check network constraints. They discuss the gaps and use `create_update` to fill them.
Yes, you can filter the tool list before passing it to the AssistantAgent. This ensures a creative agent can only draft posts, while only the manager agent can execute `delete_update`.
Your Buffer credentials and post data are processed inside an ephemeral V8 sandbox. The server runs in a zero-trust environment, so your private tokens are never exposed to the AutoGen agents or external logs.
