Automate complex bug triaging workflows

Stop manually routing tickets to the wrong boards. Mastra AI lets you build multi-step workflows that fetch new bugs with `list_feedback` and use conditional branching to decide which developer gets the ticket. If a critical CSS issue lands in the queue, the agent routes it to your design lead instantly. The framework handles failures gracefully. Should a call to `update_task` hit a rate limit, Mastra's built-in exponential backoff retries the operation automatically, ensuring your ticket updates always go through.

Human-approved project creation

Prevent agents from cluttering your account with test workspaces. By using Mastra's human-in-the-loop feature, you can require approval before the agent calls `create_project`. The agent drafts the project details and pauses, waiting for your green light. Once you approve, the agent executes the tool and uses `get_project` to fetch the new workspace details. It then runs through your post-setup checklist, like adding team members, without you having to guide it step-by-step.

Deploy BugHerd MCP Server agents with one command

Get your agent workflows live in minutes. Mastra lets you bundle this MCP Server configuration and deploy it to any cloud with a single command. Your configured client connects to the Vinkius endpoint and starts monitoring your project queues. Your bot can run background checks using `list_tasks` to find stale tickets. It then automatically matches them against `list_users` to nudge the assignee, keeping your project boards clean without manual intervention.

Setup guide

Set up BugHerd MCP in Mastra AI

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+ and a TypeScript project
  • @mastra/mcp + @mastra/core packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run npm install @mastra/mcp @mastra/core plus your preferred model provider (e.g. @ai-sdk/openai).

  2. 2

    Configure the MCPClient

    Create an MCPClient with your Vinkius endpoint as a URL object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Discover and inject tools

    Call mcpClient.listTools() and spread the result into your agent's tools object. All BugHerd tools become native Mastra tools.

  4. 4

    Run with any model

    Swap openai("gpt-4o") for any AI SDK-compatible provider. Call agent.generate() and the agent routes tool calls through MCP automatically.

agent.ts
import { MCPClient } from "@mastra/mcp";
import { Agent } from "@mastra/core/agent";
import { openai } from "@ai-sdk/openai";

const mcpClient = new MCPClient({
  id: "bugherd-mcp-client",
  servers: {
    "bugherd-mcp": {
      url: new URL(
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
      ),
    },
  },
});

const agent = new Agent({
  name: "BugHerd Agent",
  model: openai("gpt-4o"),
  instructions: "You have access to BugHerd tools.",
  tools: {
    ...(await mcpClient.listTools()),
  },
});

const result = await agent.generate(
  "List recent BugHerd transactions"
);
console.log(result.text);

Common questions about BugHerd MCP in Mastra AI

Install the MCP package and instantiate the client with your Vinkius URL. You then fetch the tools via `listTools()` and spread them directly into your Mastra agent's tool array so it can run `create_task` autonomously.
Yes, Mastra has native retry mechanisms with exponential backoff. If a call to `update_task` fails due to network hiccups, the framework automatically retries the tool execution without crashing your agent's active workflow.
Use Mastra's human-in-the-loop configuration and set `requireToolApproval` to true for sensitive operations. The agent will pause and request permission before executing actions like `create_project` or changing task assignees.
Absolutely. You can chain tools together in a single workflow. For example, your agent can call `get_organization_info` to verify settings, then use that data to configure and run `create_project` in a single execution loop.
Your data never leaves your secure execution environment. The Mastra agent processes task payloads and user structures in memory, and the Vinkius MCP Server executes the tools ephemerally, ensuring zero persistent storage of your bug tracker's content.
