Let agents debate scheduling conflicts

Finding a time that works for everyone requires negotiation. One AutoGen agent pulls open slots using `get_available_slots` while another checks those times against a project deadline. They discuss the options until they reach a consensus. Once both agents agree on the optimal window, the primary agent executes `create_new_booking` to lock it in.

Automate Cal.com MCP Server management

System maintenance shouldn't require human intervention. A configuration agent monitors your setup by running `list_active_webhooks` to ensure calendar events trigger the right downstream actions. If a webhook goes down, the agents alert you or try to fix the routing. They verify their own API access first by calling `test_cal_auth` before attempting any complex recovery steps.

Coordinate complex meeting adjustments

Moving a major review meeting impacts multiple stakeholders. Your scheduling agent retrieves the current meeting info via `get_booking_details` and proposes alternatives to the group. A separate policy agent verifies the new time complies with working hours by checking `list_availability_schedules`. After clearing the rules, the system fires `reschedule_meeting` and updates everyone involved.

Setup guide

Set up Cal.com MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Cal.com tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Cal.com_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Cal.com data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Cal.com MCP in AutoGen

Install `autogen-ext[mcp]` via pip. Use `mcp_server_tools` with your Vinkius endpoint and pass the resulting list to your `AssistantAgent`.
Yes. You provide the tool list to any agent in your chat group, allowing a specific scheduling persona to handle all calendar interactions.
An agent decides a meeting is no longer necessary based on the conversation context. It then calls `cancel_booking` to clear the calendar block.
The `McpToolAdapter` handles all schema translations automatically. Your agents decide which parameters to pass to `get_event_type_details` based on their system prompts.
Auth happens entirely on the Vinkius side via a single endpoint token. Your webhook URLs and profile settings remain isolated in a temporary sandbox that dies the moment the MCP Server tool execution finishes.
