Hardcode real workspace IDs with Cursor

Writing API scripts usually means hunting through documentation to find your account IDs. Cursor just runs `get_my_clockify_profile` to grab your exact authentication details while you type. When you need the actual environment IDs, the agent fires `list_clockify_workspaces`. It drops the real string directly into your constants file so you can keep building.

Generate billing scripts from live project data

Mock data wastes time when you build internal invoicing tools. Your AI client pulls the actual customer roster using `list_workspace_clients` and writes the exact parsing logic you need. Then it hits `list_workspace_projects` to map those clients to active jobs. Cursor builds your data models based on the exact JSON schema returning from your live account.

Test time tracking logic via MCP Server

Building custom dashboards requires testing actual time payloads. You can tell Cursor to log a test block using `add_new_time_entry` to see how your UI handles the new record. To verify the fetch logic, the agent runs `list_user_time_entries`. You see exactly how the timestamps format before you write a single line of frontend code.

Setup guide

Set up Clockify MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Clockify MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Clockify transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Clockify tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Clockify MCP in Cursor

Create an mcp.json file in your project root. Paste the server command or Vinkius remote URL, then turn on Agent mode in the chat.
No. The current tools let you read existing projects and log time, but you cannot generate new project containers from the editor.
Context. When you build internal tools, you need live API responses to write accurate data models. This pulls the real JSON directly into your editor.
Yes. You can ask the agent to hit `stop_current_timer` if you left a task running, or log new blocks manually.
Vinkius handles the authentication layer entirely. Your project lists and user time entries route through a zero-trust gateway. Cursor never stores your raw API credentials locally.
