Connect Code Climate MCP to CrewAI
Create your Vinkius account to connect Code Climate to CrewAI and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Audit Code Climate Quality with CrewAI Teams
`list_codeclimate_repositories` lets your Lead Auditor agent discover every active project in your organization. Once the list is compiled, the auditor delegates the analysis of individual repositories to specialized reviewer agents. These reviewer agents use `get_repository_code_quality` to pull the precise grades and test metrics. They collaborate in shared memory to identify which teams are falling behind on technical debt.
Let CrewAI Analyze Snapshot Issues
When a new snapshot is created, your Monitoring agent uses `list_repository_snapshots` to detect the update. It then hands the snapshot ID to a Debugging agent to inspect the changes. The Debugging agent calls `list_snapshot_code_issues` to extract the exact code smells and maintainability issues. It writes up a detailed report and hands it off to an Escalation agent to assign tasks to the developers.
Track Coverage Trends via MCP Server
Your QA agent uses `list_repository_test_reports` to check the test coverage of every pull request. If the coverage drops, the QA agent alerts the moderator agent to block the merge. This multi-agent setup keeps your test suites honest. By running these checks autonomously, your crew ensures that no untested code makes it to production without a thorough review.
Set up Code Climate MCP in CrewAI
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewaipackage (pip install crewai) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install CrewAI
Run
pip install crewaito install the framework. MCP support is built-in via themcpsparameter. - 2
Add the MCP URL to your agent
Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the
mcpslist. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically. - 3
Kick off your crew
Create a
Crewwith your agent and tasks. Callcrew.kickoff()— the agent will automatically invoke Code Climate tools as needed.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
agent = Agent(
role="Code Climate Analyst",
goal="Access and analyze Code Climate data via MCP.",
backstory="Expert analyst with direct Code Climate access.",
mcps=[
"https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
],
)
task = Task(
description="List recent Code Climate transactions",
agent=agent,
expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)
crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result) Prerequisites

- 1
Install dependencies
Run
pip install crewai crewai-tools. TheMCPServerAdapterhandles lifecycle management and tool conversion. - 2
Connect with MCPServerAdapter
Use
MCPServerAdapteras a context manager withSseServerParameterspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. The adapter automatically manages connection lifecycle. - 3
Assign tools and run
Pass the returned
mcp_toolsto your agent'stoolsparameter. The adapter converts MCP tools to nativeBaseToolobjects compatible with all CrewAI agents.
