Inject real academic metadata into your codebase using the CrossRef Alternative MCP Server in Cursor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect CrossRef Alternative MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect CrossRef Alternative to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Fetch live citation data in Cursor
Stop using mock data in your research apps. Use `get_work` to pull accurate publication dates and author lists directly into your editor. The AI can write code that references these live API responses, ensuring your application handles actual scholarly data structures.
Query journals and publishers
Use `search_publishers` or `search_journals` to find the correct identifiers for your database. These tools return publisher names and journal ISSNs instantly. Your agent can then loop through these results to build out your bibliography or reference tables.
Search for specific research funders
Identify funding sources for your project by querying `search_funders`. You get back URI info and country codes for each organization. This helps you automate the tracking of research grants within your project files.
