End-to-end feature rollouts with this MCP Server

Cline manages your entire release lifecycle by running `list_project_environments` to map out your deployments. It then writes the implementation code in VS Code, referencing active flags it found via `list_feature_flags`. After writing the code, the agent runs your test suite to make sure nothing is broken. If everything passes, it can call `update_feature_flag_status` to activate the feature for your staging users, checking the live status to confirm the update succeeded.

Deep context targeting analysis

To inspect targeting rules without leaving VS Code, Cline runs `get_feature_flag_details` to pull current configurations. This MCP tool checks which user segments are targeted and details how the variations are distributed. If you are working on a specific file, Cline uses `list_feature_variables` to match variables in your code with their DevCycle definitions. It gives you immediate clarity on what values your users will actually receive in production.

Rapid workspace flag discovery

To locate specific flags in large codebases, Cline runs `search_feature_flags` to match your active workspace. It scans your active workspace, compares it with the DevCycle API data, and highlights discrepancies. If it finds a flag that is active in your code but archived in the dashboard, it alerts you immediately. The agent uses `get_project_details` to verify the project context, ensuring you are always editing the correct environment.

Common questions about DevCycle MCP in Cline

Open the Cline sidebar, click the MCP icon, and add the server via the Marketplace tab. Cline automatically reads the schema and registers tools like `list_active_flags` for immediate use.
No, this server focuses on reading and updating existing configurations. Cline uses `list_feature_variables` to find existing variables and apply them to your code, rather than creating new schemas from scratch.
Yes. Cline uses `list_project_environments` to see your setup, then grabs the correct keys using `get_environment_sdk_keys` to target Staging, Production, or QA environments as requested.
Cline handles API limits gracefully by caching results where possible. When calling `get_feature_flag_details`, it retrieves the complete targeting payload in one go, minimizing repetitive API requests.
Your credentials stay encrypted within your local `cline_mcp_settings.json` file. The MCP server processes all project details and environment configurations inside an isolated ephemeral sandbox, keeping your proprietary rollout rules safe from external exposure.
