Coordinate agents with DeveloperHub data

Give your AutoGen agents the `list_documentation_projects` tool to let them explore your portal. Agents can now decide which project needs attention based on the conversation. They coordinate by sharing the project list. One agent identifies the relevant project, and the others follow up to extract the necessary technical details.

Enable agent debate on documentation changes

Use `list_recently_updated_pages` to feed a change-detection agent. It can then challenge a writer agent if the docs haven't been updated for a specific feature. This creates a loop of accountability. The agents negotiate until they agree that the documentation accurately reflects the current state of the codebase.

Verify specs using portal search

Instruct your agents to use `search_documentation_portal` when they disagree on a technical point. It settles the debate with facts from your live portal. This forces a consensus driven by real data. Your agents move from guessing to citing specific pages and content to support their arguments.

Setup guide

Set up DeveloperHub MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes DeveloperHub tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="DeveloperHub_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent DeveloperHub data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about DeveloperHub MCP in AutoGen

You register the tools from this MCP server with your AssistantAgent. The agent then calls `search_documentation_portal` automatically whenever it needs to resolve a technical ambiguity.
The current toolset focuses on discovery, search, and monitoring. You can have agents report findings, but they cannot directly push changes to your portal.
You use one endpoint token for the entire multi-agent system. The Vinkius platform manages the connection securely, ensuring your agents operate within your defined limits.
The agent receives the error as a string. Your system should be configured to let another agent handle the failure or escalate to a human operator.
Your changelog data is handled within an ephemeral V8 sandbox. It is never logged or shared, providing a secure environment for agents to analyze your release history.
