How to Use the MapQuest MCP in Windsurf
Give Windsurf direct access to MapQuest routing and geocoding to build location-aware features fast.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect MapQuest MCP to Windsurf
Create your Vinkius account to connect MapQuest to Windsurf and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Turn addresses into coordinates
The `geocode_address` tool takes a messy street address and returns exact latitude and longitude coordinates. Cascade uses this to plot user locations instantly without you having to write the API calls yourself. When you have raw GPS data, `reverse_geocode` flips the script. Your agent reads the coordinates and hands back human-readable addresses, which is exactly what you need for driver logs or delivery tracking interfaces.
Build routing logic inside Windsurf
The `get_directions` tool calculates driving, walking, or cycling routes between two points. Tell Cascade to build a distance calculator, and it chains the geocoder directly into the routing engine to give you accurate travel times. You also get `search_points_of_interest` to find gas stations, restaurants, or whatever else your users care about. Windsurf grabs the nearest locations and dumps them into your frontend components automatically.
Generate map images with this MCP Server
The `get_static_map_url` tool creates a direct image link for any specific location. You do not have to mess with complex client-side mapping libraries if you just need a simple visual reference. Ask your agent to drop a map thumbnail into your contact page. It pulls the coordinates, hits the MapQuest endpoint, and writes the image tag into your HTML in one pass.
