Get Full Billing and Usage Data
When you need a complete view of customer consumption, use the `get_meter_data` tool. It combines the entire bill history—dates, costs, usage—with granular time-series readings in one call. This means less code and more actionable data injected right into your script. This method is perfect for writing scripts that calculate total lifetime cost or model energy patterns over years of historical data.
Build Authorization Logic
Start by calling `list_utilities` to pull every valid utility code. Then, use `create_auth_form` with the correct code and desired scenario (residential/commercial). This function returns a form UID that your code must handle when setting up data access. You can then test this entire setup using `test_form_submission`, which gives you a referral code to validate against `list_authorizations` before committing the logic.
Analyze Energy Patterns
To analyze usage patterns, call `get_intervals`. You must pass the meter UIDs here. The response provides detailed time-series readings (15-min or hourly) for usage and cost. This is ideal for your code when you're building demand response simulations. Alternatively, if you only care about financial totals, `get_bills` works great, giving you the summarized period costs without needing minute-by-minute data.
