How to Use the Wallarm MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Defend your APIs and automate security operations using the OpenAI Agents SDK.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Wallarm MCP to OpenAI Agents SDK
Create your Vinkius account to connect Wallarm to OpenAI Agents SDK and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Audit network access rules
You can check what IPs are currently allowed or blocked by listing all configured rules. Use `list_ip_acl_rules` to see your existing allowlists and denylists. Need to block a bad IP range? Call `create_ip_acl_rule`. You specify the CIDR block and whether you want it on the 'white' (allow) or 'black' (deny) list. It’s super clean.
Investigate blocked traffic
When something gets blocked, you need proof. `search_security_hits` pulls full request headers and payloads for every malicious HTTP hit the WAF caught. That's deep forensic data. Don't just guess what happened. The tool lets your agent pinpoint exactly which vector was used against the endpoint.
Manage API vulnerabilities
When a vulnerability shows up, you need to track it. `search_vulnerabilities` gives you a list of all open security flaws detected in live traffic. It's your starting point. Once the team validates findings, you mark them using `update_vulnerability_status`. You can set the status to 'closed' or 'falsepositive', keeping the records accurate.
Set up Wallarm MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
openai-agentspackage (pip install openai-agents) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install the SDK
Run
pip install openai-agentsto install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed. - 2
Connect via SSE transport
Use
MCPServerSsewith your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Wallarm tools at runtime. - 3
Create your Agent
Pass the MCP to
Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Wallarm tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically. - 4
Run the agent
Call
Runner.run(agent, prompt)to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Wallarm tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse
async def main():
async with MCPServerSse(
url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
) as server:
agent = Agent(
name="Wallarm Agent",
instructions="You have access to Wallarm tools.",
mcp_servers=[server],
)
result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
print(result.final_output)
asyncio.run(main()) Independent Platform Disclaimer: Vinkius is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, verified by, or otherwise authorized by Wallarm.
