Search for required indicator codes.

Before writing a query, use `search_who_indicators` to find the exact code you need. The AI then uses this returned value—the indicator code—to build variables and functions in your source file. This means your generated Python or JavaScript code references real data points, not placeholders.

Fetch country profile data for assignment.

Need to initialize a variable with a country's baseline metrics? The `get_who_country_profile` tool fetches the snapshot using ISO-3 codes. This live JSON response is then injected directly into your code block. Your agent can assign this returned data structure right where you need it, minimizing boilerplate setup.

Populate structured historical datasets.

When building a report or model that needs time-series data, `get_who_indicator_data` is what you call. It returns multi-year records with sex disaggregation. The AI takes this live array response and populates it into the exact data structure (like a Pandas DataFrame) within your coding environment.

Setup guide

Set up WHO GHO MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the WHO GHO MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent WHO GHO transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the WHO GHO tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about WHO GHO MCP in Cursor

Use Agent mode to initiate the process. First, let the AI run `search_who_indicators` to get your codes. Then, tell it where in your file you want the resulting data injected.
The tool accepts standard ISO-3 country codes when calling `get_who_country_profile`. This covers most of the countries tracked globally by the World Health Organization.
Yes. The `get_who_indicator_data` tool is built to manage time series and multiple indicators, returning structured results that your agent can map efficiently into code variables.
Not at all. It pulls data across 194 countries recorded by the WHO. You just point it to a country using its ISO-3 code, and your code gets the necessary context.
The server provides global health indicators. This includes metrics like life expectancy, disease prevalence, mortality rates, and immunization coverage, all structured for immediate use in your code.
