Get Customer and Order Context

Need to check a customer's history while coding? Use `get_account_details` to retrieve specific customer records. You can then pair that with `list_order_details` to pull all associated service orders into your current function.

Inventory Field Assets and Staff

Your code needs context on who's doing the work or what gear they use. Call `list_field_employees` for technician profiles, or run `list_service_equipment` to get a list of all managed assets used in the field.

Update Order Status During Development

Don't just read; update. The `update_order_status` tool lets you programmatically change an order’s state (e.g., from InProgress to Completed). This means your generated code can actually execute lifecycle changes.

Setup guide

Set up WorkWave MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the WorkWave MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent WorkWave transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the WorkWave tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about WorkWave MCP in Cursor

You set up the MCP Server connection in `.cursor/mcp.json`. When you enable Agent mode, the AI calls tools like `list_service_orders` and injects the live results right into your file.
Yeah. Use `list_field_employees`. This tool provides a list of field staff, which you can then reference in your code's logic or data structures.
The `update_order_status` tool handles that. Your AI client calls it, and the resulting state change is reflected in your working code snippet.
It manages service orders by letting you call `list_service_orders`. You can also get details on specific jobs using `get_order_details`.
It touches everything from account records (`get_account_details`) to equipment inventory and service locations. The live API responses give you full context.
