Agent-driven General Motors interactions

Let your AI agent execute vehicle commands while you write code. By using `start_vehicle` or `lock_doors` in Agent mode, the model interacts with your car based on the logic you define in your project. This eliminates the need to mock responses. The agent calls the actual API endpoints, ensuring your implementation works with real-world latency and data structures.

Real-time General Motors telemetry in Cursor

Inject live odometer or diagnostic data into your code files. Use `get_odometer` or `get_vehicle_diagnostics` to fetch current values and process them immediately in your terminal or scripts. This is ideal for building custom dashboards or maintenance trackers. The AI agent pulls the latest state from your vehicle, allowing you to debug your code against production data.

Fleet management with Cursor tools

Manage multiple vehicles from a single development environment. Use `get_vehicles` to identify the correct VIN, then filter your logic to apply commands or diagnostic checks to specific assets. This workflow is perfect for developers building fleet-wide monitoring solutions. You can iterate on your code and verify the impact on your vehicles in real-time.

Setup guide

Set up General Motors MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the General Motors MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent General Motors transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the General Motors tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about General Motors MCP in Cursor

Define the server in your `.cursor/mcp.json` file. Once added, enable Agent mode to allow the AI to invoke tools based on your natural language instructions.
Absolutely. You can write scripts that call `get_vehicle_diagnostics` on a schedule to monitor the health of your General Motors fleet.
Yes, you can retrieve GPS data via `get_vehicle_location`. It is useful for building geo-fencing scripts or tracking assets directly within your editor.
The server uses a secure endpoint token. You pass your credentials through the configuration, keeping your access separate from your source code.
It accesses vehicle telemetry including GPS location, fuel/charge levels, and diagnostic trouble codes. This data is transmitted only when you explicitly call the relevant tools.
