FAQ

Questions Datalastic owners ask.

  • 01

Can I track a ship using its name?

Yes! Use the search_maritime_vessels capability with the vessel's name. It will return a list of matching ships with their MMSI numbers, which you can then use for real-time tracking.

  • 02

    What is an MMSI number?

MMSI stands for Maritime Mobile Service Identity. It is a unique 9-digit number used to identify a vessel's radio equipment and is the primary identifier for AIS tracking.

  • 03

How can I find the official code for a port?

Use the search_ports_by_country capability with the 2-letter ISO country code. The response will list ports in that country along with their official UN/LOCODEs.
