Your AI does the work. We keep it safe and sound.

No other AI tool gives you this. Your workflow runs in the client you already love, your account stays protected, and you decide what the agent can and cannot do. It is the whole reason to make the switch.

Each Connector lives inside our infrastructure, the same place where your workflow runs. The three things below are already part of it, working quietly in the background so you never have to think about them. Nothing to add, nothing to set up, nothing to worry about.

How Vinkius works: one connection, every tool, in any AI
V8 Isolate01

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed environment.

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed V8 runtime — no access to your files, your system, or other servers. A Connector never sees past its own request.

Kill Switch02

One switch stops every agent. Instantly.

One action deactivates every Connector, revokes every token, and ends every session at once. AI Governance keeps the record.

FinOps per User03

Spending limits that pause instead of surprise.

Every user keeps their own connections and credentials, isolated from everyone else. Anything that would cross your spending limit is held for your approval, not billed.

Three controls, built into the layer your AI connects through.

Complete set · 6 capabilities

The complete NYC Open Data capability set.

These are the exact actions your AI can choose when you ask it to work with NYC Open Data.

Capability set01 / 02

01-03

3 capabilities in this set.

Part of 6 available through NYC Open Data.

  1. 01

    Count taxi trips

This capability counts trips within a specific TLC dataset. Use it to get a sense of the total volume before you pull individual rows.

  2. 02

    Get taxi zone

This capability resolves a 3 or 4 digit TLC zone ID into a human-readable name and borough.

  3. 03

    List taxi zones

This capability provides a full list of all TLC taxi zone IDs, names, and their corresponding boroughs.

Capability set02 / 02

04-06

3 capabilities in this set.

Part of 6 available through NYC Open Data.

  1. 04

    Search fhv trips

This capability searches through For-Hire Vehicle trip records like Uber or Lyft. You can filter by year and use zone IDs to find specific ride-hail patterns.

  2. 05

    Search taxi trips

This capability retrieves detailed records for yellow and green taxi trips. It provides access to fare amounts, tips, tolls, and trip distances for a given fiscal year.

  3. 06

    Search zone pickups

This capability pulls monthly pickup and dropoff counts for yellow taxis, green cabs, and high-volume FHV. It is the best way to compare volume across different industries and zones.

One connector, every AI

NYC Open Data works with the most popular AI clients.

These are the most popular clients, each with a step-by-step guide: one link, set up once, with governance and visibility built in. And because everything runs on the MCP standard, the same connection also works in any other compatible client — nothing to rebuild.

Building your own app? The connector is yours to use.

You don't need a client to put NYC Open Data to work: the same hosted connection plugs into your own applications and agent code, with the same governance on every request. Build with it, chat with it — one connection for both.

Connect your client

One URL. Every client.

Activate the Connector, copy your link, and paste it into the client you already use. 6 capabilities arrive ready to run.

Preview access · not provider authentication

The vk_preview_* token belongs to Vinkius preview infrastructure. It lets Claude discover and display the capabilities of NYC Open Data, so you can see the experience inside your AI.

It does not authenticate your account with NYC Open Data. Actions requiring credentials or live account data may not run until you activate the Connector and authorize the service.

Who it's for

Built for the work NYC Open Data owners hand off.

This MCP is built for professionals who need to validate urban movement patterns using official city records.

  • 01

    Mobility Analysts

They use the capability to pull trip volumes and fare data for transit modeling.

  • 02

    Market Researchers

They query FHV and taxi logs to compare ride-hail demand against traditional cabs.

  • 03

    Urban Planners

They use zone pickup counts to understand traffic and demand in specific NYC boroughs.

FAQ

Questions NYC Open Data owners ask.

  • 01

Do I need an API key to use this data?

No. Vinkius hosts the MCP, so you can use the capabilities without managing your own API credentials.

  • 02

What years of taxi data are available?

Yellow taxi data is available for 2023 and 2024, while green cab and FHV data covers 2024 and 2025. You can ask your agent to check which years are currently accessible.

  • 03

Can I see Uber and Lyft data?

Yes. The FHV dispatch logs include data for the high-volume ride-hail class, which covers services like Uber and Lyft.

  • 04

How do I find the ID for a specific NYC neighborhood?

You can use the list_taxi_zones capability to see all available names and IDs, or use get_taxi_zone if you already have a 3 or 4 digit ID.

  • 05

What kind of trip details can I get?

For taxi trips, you can get the fare amount, tips, tolls, congestion surcharges, and total trip distance.

  • 06

Do I need an API key?

No. NYC Open Data serves all public datasets anonymously over its SODA API (data.cityofnewyork.us). This MCP defines no credentials and needs nothing configured.

  • 07

Why do trip capabilities ask for a year?

TLC publishes trip history year by year (yellow 2023–2024, green 2024, FHV 2024–2025). Each dataset is a separate view, so every trip capability takes a year parameter and tells you the available years when the one you pass is missing.

  • 08

What does the zone data cover?

The zone table maps the city's 263 taxi zones to boroughs with stable location ids, and the monthly series gives pick-up and drop-off counts per zone and industry. Use them to rank busy taxi areas instead of fetching per-trip rows.
