Connect Dyte to your agent to manage call recordings via chat. Once connected, you can trigger recordings and grab links without leaving your conversation.

Ask AI about this page

Short answer

How can I record and get video links using my AI?

You tell your AI to start or stop a recording during a Dyte call, and then ask it to fetch the download link once the session ends. You'll get the direct URL to the video file right in your chat. Here is how the process works.

Recording outcomes

What you get from your AI

These are the results of your commands.

ACTIVE

Live recording starts

The AI triggers the recording process for your current Dyte session. You get a confirmation that the capture is running.

FINISHED

Recording stops

The AI ends the recording session. This stops the data capture and begins the processing phase for the video file.

READY

Download links

The AI retrieves the specific URL for your recorded session. You can then copy this link to view or share the video.

MANUAL

Human oversight

You decide exactly when a recording should begin or end. The AI only acts when you give the command in chat.

The workflow

What your AI does when <the thing arrives>.

The AI acts as your hands inside the Dyte video environment.

  1. Initiate capture

When you ask to record a call, the AI sends the command to the active Dyte session to begin capturing video and audio.

    start_recording
  2. Terminate capture

To end a session, the AI tells Dyte to stop the recording process, ensuring the file is saved correctly.

    stop_recording
  3. Fetch video URL

Once the recording is processed, the AI looks up the specific session data to find the download link.

    get_recording
  4. Confirm status

The AI checks the state of the recording to let you know if it is currently running or if the link is ready.

    get_recording

FAQ

Recording questions

  • 01

Can the AI start a recording by itself?

No. The AI only starts a recording when you explicitly tell it to do so in your chat interface.

  • 02

Can the AI delete a recording?

No. The available tools only allow for starting, stopping, and retrieving links. You must manage deletions manually in Dyte.

  • 03

How do I get the video file?

Ask your AI to get the recording link. It will use the get_recording tool to find the URL for you.

  • 04

Can the AI change video settings?

No. This Connector is strictly for managing the recording lifecycle, not for adjusting video quality or camera settings.

  • 05

Does the AI record every call automatically?

No. Recording is not automatic. You must trigger the start_recording tool for every session you want to capture.
