Short answer
How can I get nutrition info from an ingredient list using AI?
Paste your list of ingredients into your AI client and ask it to find the nutritional values. The AI uses the Edamam Connector to fetch specific calorie, fat, protein, and carb counts for every item. You get a full breakdown of the total nutritional profile.

How the nutrition task behaves
- 01
Can the AI change the ingredients in my list?
No. The AI only reads the nutritional data for the ingredients you provide. You must manually edit your list if you want to change the recipe.
- 02
Does the AI calculate nutritional info for custom homemade sauces?
The AI can only provide data for ingredients it can identify in the Edamam database. If an ingredient is too unique or custom, it won't have a match.
- 03
Can the AI order groceries based on these ingredients?
No. This MCP only provides nutritional data. It does not have tools to interact with shopping carts or grocery services.
- 04
Will the AI save my nutritional history?
No. The AI client handles your chat history, but the Edamam MCP does not store or manage your previous nutritional calculations.
- 05
Can I ask for vitamin counts?
Yes, as long as that specific data is available through the get_nutrition_details tool.
