Short answer
How can I automate carrier check-calls using AI?
Your AI agent uses Happyrobot to trigger outbound calls to drivers to verify their current location and load status. It then processes the conversation to update your records. You get a hands-off way to keep your freight moving.
The outcomes.
Where the data lands.
The AI handles the heavy lifting and sorts the results.
SUCCESS
Updated load status
The AI confirms the driver is on track. It updates your system with the exact location and ETA provided during the call.
EXCEPTION
Flagged delays
If a driver reports a breakdown or a missed window, the AI identifies the issue. You get a clear alert to step in.
MISSING
Unreachable drivers
When a driver doesn't pick up, the AI logs the failed attempt. You'll see exactly which numbers need a manual follow-up.
HUMAN
Manual intervention
If the driver provides complex info the AI can't parse, the task stays with you. You handle the edge cases while the AI handles the routine.
The workflow
What your AI does when a check-call is triggered.
The AI takes over the phone work so you don't have to.
Initiate the call
Your agent tells the MCP to start a conversation with a specific driver phone number.
happyrobot_infoConduct the interview
The AI agent talks to the driver, asking for their current location, remaining hours, and any delays.
happyrobot_infoExtract the facts

How the check-calls behave
- 01
Can the AI call drivers without me asking?
No. The AI only triggers calls when you or your agent explicitly command it to do so.
- 02
Does the AI record the calls?
The AI processes the audio to extract data, but it does not manage or store audio files for you.
- 03
What happens if the driver is angry?
The AI follows the logic you provide. If it hits a wall or a conflict, it stops and alerts you.
- 04
Can the AI change the driver's appointment time?
No. The AI can report what the driver says, but it cannot modify external scheduling software unless you have a specific tool connected for that.
- 05
Will it call the same driver multiple times?
It will only call when you instruct it. It won't loop or harass drivers on its own.
