Short answer

How can I use AI to organize my Immich photos?

You give your AI client text commands to find specific photos and move them into new or existing albums. It handles the library management while you focus on curation. You'll get a clean, organized library through natural conversation.

Library outcomes

Where your photos end up.

The AI moves assets between different organizational states based on your requests.

NEW ALBUM

Grouped collections

The AI creates fresh albums for specific themes or events. Your photos move from a giant pile into organized sets.

EXISTING

Updated structures

The AI modifies your current album names or contents. It keeps your existing hierarchy intact while adding new assets.

CLEANUP

Removed clutter

The AI deletes unwanted albums to keep your library tidy. This clears out the old or redundant folders you no longer need.

HUMAN

Manual review

You decide which photos belong where. The AI performs the heavy lifting of moving files, but you maintain final control over the library's look.

The workflow

What your AI does when you ask to organize.

The AI acts as a bridge between your chat interface and your Immich database.

  1. Scan the library

The AI looks through your entire Immich collection to find the specific images or videos you mentioned.

    list_assets
  2. Inspect specific files

It pulls the details for individual photos to ensure it's targeting the right files for your request.

    get_asset
  3. Build the structure

The AI creates new albums or updates the names of current ones to match your instructions.

    create_albumupdate_album
  4. Clean up

If you tell it to get rid of an old collection, the AI removes the album from your library.
