Short answer
How can I manage LKE clusters with my AI?
Your AI uses the Linode Connector to trigger cluster creation and pull real-time status updates. You get direct control over your LKE environment without touching the Linode dashboard or CLI. This setup gives you a conversational interface for your entire cluster lifecycle.
Infrastructure outcomes
What you can do
The AI handles the heavy lifting of cluster management.
DEPLOY
New clusters live
The AI triggers the creation of a new LKE cluster based on your requirements. You get a running environment without running manual scripts.
MONITOR
Real-time status
Your AI pulls current cluster data to tell you if your nodes are healthy or if a cluster is still provisioning. You stay informed without polling the API.
AUDIT
Cluster inventory
Ask for a list of everything running. The AI provides a clear view of your existing LKE footprint.
HUMAN
Manual overrides
The AI handles the API calls, but you retain full control via the Linode Cloud Manager for complex networking or billing changes.
The workflow
What your AI does when the command arrives.
The AI translates your intent into specific API actions.
Identify the target
The AI looks through your existing infrastructure to find the specific cluster you want to check or modify.
list_lke_clustersFetch cluster details
Once the cluster is identified, the AI pulls the specific configuration and status data for that instance.
get_lke_clusterProvision resources
When you ask for a new environment, the AI sends the request to spin up a fresh LKE cluster.
create_lke_clusterReport status
The AI summarizes the results of the previous actions, confirming if the cluster is ready or if an error occurred.
get_lke_cluster

How the Linode Connector behaves
- 01
Can my AI delete an LKE cluster?
No. The current tools only allow for creating, listing, and getting cluster details. Deletion must be done manually by you.
- 02
Can the AI change my node pool sizes?
No. The AI can retrieve information about your clusters, but it cannot modify existing node configurations or scale them.
- 03
Does the AI have access to my billing info?
No. The AI only interacts with the LKE specific tools provided in the manifest.
- 04
How does the AI know which cluster I'm talking about?
The AI uses the list and get tools to identify the correct cluster by name or ID from your account.
- 05
Can I use this with any AI client?
Yes, as long as the client supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
