Short answer
How do I scale serverless MCP instances with my AI?
Your agent uses Metorial to deploy, monitor, and delete remote containers for specific tasks. This allows your agent to offload heavy logic to isolated environments that scale on demand. You get a breakdown of the deployment and management cycle below.
Scaling outcomes
Where workloads land.
What happens when your agent manages its own logic containers.
DEPLOY
On-demand execution
Your agent spins up a new environment to run a specific task. This keeps your main chat interface fast and responsive.
MONITOR
Real-time oversight
The agent checks the health and status of active containers. You can see if a task is running or if it hit a snag.
CLEANUP
Resource management
Once a job finishes, your agent removes the container. This prevents wasted resources and keeps your environment clean.
HUMAN
Manual intervention
If a deployment fails or a container hangs, the agent flags the issue. You decide when to manually step in or retry.
The workflow
What your AI does when the workload increases.
The agent takes over the infrastructure management so you don't have to.
Provisioning
The agent creates a new remote environment to handle a specific computational task.
metorial_deploy_serverInventory check
The agent looks at all currently active environments to see what is running.
metorial_list_serversHealth monitoring
The agent verifies that the active environment is responding correctly to the task.
metorial_get_server_statusDecommissioning
The agent shuts down the environment once the task is complete or no longer needed.

How the scaling process works
- 01
Can the AI deploy servers without my permission?
No. The agent only executes a deployment when you provide a prompt that triggers the tool.
- 02
Does the AI manage my local machine?
No. This MCP only manages remote logic containers through the Metorial interface.
- 03
Can the AI see the code running inside the containers?
No. The agent can only check the status and manage the lifecycle of the containers.
- 04
Will the AI automatically delete all my servers?
No. The agent only deletes a server if you explicitly ask it to or if you instruct it to clean up after a task.
- 05
How do I know if a deployment failed?
The agent uses the status tool to check the environment and will report any errors directly to you in the chat.
