Ask AI about this page

Short answer

How can I track my running workflows using AI?

Your agent uses the Orkes Conductor MCP to pull live execution data and workflow definitions. You get a clear view of what's running and how it's built without leaving your chat interface.

Where every insight lands.

Monitoring outcomes

The AI translates raw Conductor data into these specific views.

LIVE

Running instances

The agent identifies every workflow currently in progress. You see exactly what is active right now.

SCHEMA

Workflow definitions

Your agent pulls the logic behind a specific workflow. This helps you understand the steps and structure.

STATUS

Execution tracking

Get updates on the state of specific runs. You can pinpoint where a process stands in its lifecycle.

HUMAN

Manual intervention

The AI identifies issues but won't touch the execution. You decide if a workflow needs to be stopped or restarted.

The workflow

What your AI does when the request arrives.

The agent follows a specific sequence to fetch the data you asked for.

  1. Identify active runs

The agent scans the Conductor environment to find all workflows currently executing.

    list_running
  2. Fetch workflow logic

To understand the context, the agent pulls the specific configuration for a workflow name.

    get_workflow_def
  3. Analyze status

The agent compares the running instances against the defined structure to report on progress.

    list_runningget_workflow_def
  4. Report findings

The agent presents a plain-English summary of what is running and how it matches the definition.

FAQ

Common questions

  • 01

Can the AI stop a running workflow?

No. The current tools only allow the AI to list running instances and get definitions. You must manually stop or kill workflows in the Orkes Conductor UI.

  • 02

Can the AI change a workflow definition?

No. The agent can only read the existing definitions. It cannot modify the logic or structure of your workflows.

  • 03

How does the AI know which workflows are running?

It uses the list_running tool to query the Orkes Conductor API for all active execution instances.

  • 04

Can I ask about a specific workflow by name?

Yes. You can ask the agent to retrieve the definition for a specific workflow using its name.

  • 05

Does the AI see all my workflows or just the active ones?

It can see both. It can list all currently running instances or pull the definition for any workflow you specify.
