How to inspect site structure with your AI

Connect Plasmic to your AI client to let it audit your page trees and layouts. It looks at the actual code and structure to find what's broken.

Ask AI about this page

Short answer

Can my AI check my Plasmic site structure?

Yes. Your AI uses the Plasmic MCP to pull your page models and HTML renders. It then compares the element tree against your intended design or routing logic to catch errors. You get a clear list of structural mismatches and broken links.

Audit outcomes

Where your findings land.

The AI categorizes issues based on how much work you need to do to fix them.

ROUTING

Broken page paths

The AI checks your page list against actual renders. It flags any dead links or missing routes in your project.

LAYOUT

Visual mismatches

By looking at the HTML, the AI finds elements that aren't where they should be or are missing from the tree.

TREE

Element hierarchy

The AI analyzes the component nesting. It identifies depth issues or incorrect parent-child relationships.

HUMAN

Manual fixes needed

The AI identifies complex design logic it can't solve. You'll receive these specific cases to handle in the Plasmic editor.

The workflow

What your AI does when the request arrives.

The AI moves from raw data to a structured audit of your project.

  1. Fetch project data

The AI pulls the full component hierarchy and page list from your Plasmic project.

    get_model
  2. Render the view

It generates the HTML for specific pages to see how elements actually sit in the DOM.

    render_html
  3. Compare structures

The AI compares the model data against the rendered output to find discrepancies.

    get_modelrender_html
  4. Report errors

It summarizes the broken routes and layout issues into a readable list for you.

    render_html

FAQ

Common questions

  • 01

Can the AI change my Plasmic designs?

No. The AI can only read the model and the HTML. You have to make all visual changes yourself in Plasmic.

  • 02

Does the AI see my private project data?

The AI only sees the data it explicitly requests through the tools to answer your specific questions.

  • 03

    Can it fix broken CSS?

No. It can identify that a layout looks wrong by comparing the HTML to the model, but it cannot write or push CSS changes.

  • 04

How does it know if a route is broken?

It compares the list of pages in your model against the available HTML renders to find gaps.

  • 05

Can it delete pages for me?

No. There are no tools provided to delete or modify your Plasmic project.
