Short answer
How can I use AI to build a Pokémon battle simulator?
Your AI uses the PokéAPI Connector to fetch live stats, abilities, and move data. It then applies that data to your custom battle logic to run accurate simulations. You get a breakdown of how to structure these requests below.
Simulation outcomes
What your simulations produce
The data your agent pulls leads to these specific results.
DATA
Live stat fetching
The AI pulls current base stats and types. You get accurate data for any Pokémon you name.
LOGIC
Move and ability mapping
Your agent identifies specific moves and abilities. This allows it to calculate damage or status effects.
SIM
Battle execution
The AI runs the fight based on the data it retrieved. You get a play-by-play of the match.
HUMAN
Rule refinement
The AI cannot invent new game mechanics. You must define the battle rules and damage formulas yourself.
The workflow
What your AI does when the data arrives.
The AI acts as the bridge between the PokéAPI and your custom simulation logic.
Identify combatants
Your agent looks up the specific Pokémon you want to use in a fight.
get_pokemonCheck move sets
The AI pulls the specific moves and damage profiles for the chosen Pokémon.
get_moveAnalyze types
Your agent checks elemental types to determine weaknesses and resistances.
get_typeEvaluate abilities
The AI retrieves passive abilities that change how a Pokémon behaves in battle.

How the simulator behaves
- 01
Can the AI create new Pokémon moves?
No. The AI only retrieves existing data from the PokéAPI.
- 02
Does the AI handle the actual damage math?
The AI can perform the math, but it only knows the base stats and move power provided by the tools. You must provide the formula.
- 03
Can I use this to play a game?
The AI can simulate a fight, but it doesn't provide a graphical interface or a playable game engine.
- 04
Can the AI change a Pokémon's stats?
No. The tools are read-only. The AI can only fetch the data as it exists in the API.
- 05
Will the AI remember my custom rules?
The AI will follow the rules you give it in the chat, but it doesn't save those rules to the PokéAPI.
