Short answer
How can I automate video rendering with my AI?
You give your AI a JSON template and the data you want to inject, then it tells Shotstack to start the render. Your AI can then check on the job to see when the file is ready for download. You get a hands-off way to generate video at scale.
The results.
Where your renders land.
The AI manages the lifecycle of every video job you request.
EXECUTION
New video renders
The AI sends your template data to Shotstack to start the process. You get a job ID back immediately.
MONITORING
Real-time status updates
Your agent checks the progress of active jobs. It knows exactly when a video is processing, completed, or failed.
HISTORY
Recent render logs
The AI looks back at your previous work. It can list what you've made recently to help you manage your output.
HUMAN
Final creative review
The AI handles the technical render, but you still need to check the final video to ensure the visual output matches your intent.
The workflow
What your AI does when the request arrives.
The AI acts as the bridge between your natural language instructions and the Shotstack API.
Trigger the render
Your AI takes your description and maps it to a JSON template to start a new video job.
render_videoCheck job progress
The agent monitors the specific job to see if the video is still rendering or if it's finished.
get_render_statusReview recent work
If you need to see what was recently processed, the AI pulls a list of your latest jobs.
list_recent_rendersReport completion
Once the status shows as finished, the AI notifies you that the video is ready.

How this task behaves.
- 01
Can my AI edit the video content directly?
No. The AI can only trigger renders using the JSON templates you provide. It cannot manually move clips or change colors inside the video itself.
- 02
How does the AI know when the video is finished?
The AI uses the status tool to poll the progress of your render until it reaches a completed state.
- 03
Can the AI delete my previous renders?
No. The current tools only allow the AI to list and check the status of renders, not delete them.
- 04
Does the AI handle the video hosting?
No. The AI triggers the render through Shotstack, but the actual video file is managed by the Shotstack service.
- 05
Can I ask the AI to render multiple videos at once?
Yes. You can instruct your agent to trigger multiple render jobs in sequence or as a batch.
