Short answer

How can I check product inventory with my AI?

Your agent uses the Spocket connection to pull live stock counts for specific products. You get immediate visibility into what's available so you don't sell items that are out of stock. Here is how the process works.

The outcomes

What you get from these checks.

Every inventory request results in one of these four states.

LIVE DATA

Real-time stock counts

The agent uses get_inventory to pull the exact number of units currently available. You see the current numbers immediately.

ALERTS

Low stock warnings

Your agent identifies items nearing zero. You can set rules to be notified before a product sells out.

SYNC

Store consistency

The agent compares Spocket numbers against your storefront. This helps you catch discrepancies before customers do.

HUMAN

Manual intervention

If an item is unavailable or the data looks wrong, the agent flags it for you. You decide whether to delist the item or find a replacement.

The workflow

What your AI does when you ask for stock.

The agent handles the data retrieval so you don't have to log into the Spocket dashboard.

  1. Identify the product

The agent looks up the specific product ID or name you mentioned in your prompt to ensure it targets the right item.

    get_inventory
  2. Fetch live counts

The agent reaches out to Spocket to grab the most recent inventory numbers for that specific SKU.

    get_inventory
  3. Analyze availability

The agent compares the fetched numbers against your threshold to see if the item is low or out of stock.

    get_inventory
  4. Report findings

The agent tells you exactly how many units are left or warns you if a product is unavailable.

FAQ

How the inventory task behaves.

  • 01

Can the AI change my stock levels?

No. The agent can only read inventory data using get_inventory. It cannot modify stock counts or update your store's numbers.

  • 02

Does this update my store automatically?

No. The agent reports what it finds in Spocket. You are responsible for updating your storefront based on that information.

  • 03

Can I check multiple products at once?

Yes. You can ask your agent to check a list of specific items or find all items that meet certain stock criteria.

  • 04

How often is the data refreshed?

The agent pulls live data from Spocket every time you ask a question, so you are always seeing the most recent numbers available to the API.

  • 05

What happens if a product ID is wrong?

If the agent cannot find the product in your Spocket account, it will tell you that the item could not be located.
