Connect Aviation Weather to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

Set it up once and it works in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and any other client you love. It all runs safely in the background, so you can relax and focus on what really matters. Get decoded weather and hazard reports directly in your AI client.

Your AI does the work. We keep it safe and sound.

No other AI tool gives you this. Your workflow runs in the client you already love, your account stays protected, and you decide what the agent can and cannot do. It is the whole reason to make the switch.

Each Connector lives inside our infrastructure, the same place where your workflow runs. The three things below are already part of it, working quietly in the background so you never have to think about them. Nothing to add, nothing to set up, nothing to worry about.

How Vinkius works: one connection, every tool, in any AI
V8 Isolate01

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed environment.

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed V8 runtime — no access to your files, your system, or other servers. A Connector never sees past its own request.

Kill Switch02

One switch stops every agent. Instantly.

One action deactivates every Connector, revokes every token, and ends every session at once. AI Governance keeps the record.

FinOps per User03

Spending limits that pause instead of surprise.

Every user keeps their own connections and credentials, isolated from everyone else. Anything that would cross your spending limit is held for your approval, not billed.

Three controls, built into the layer your AI connects through.

Complete set · 7 capabilities

The complete NOAA Aviation Weather capability set.

These are the exact actions your AI can choose when you ask it to work with NOAA Aviation Weather.

Capability set01 / 02

01-04

4 capabilities in this set.

Part of 7 available through NOAA Aviation Weather.

  1. 01

    Get airport weather

This capability reads current weather at a specific airport. It provides decoded METAR observations including wind, visibility, and ceiling, along with the terminal forecast (TAF).

  2. 02

    Find airports

This capability searches the FAA airport database for locations within a bounding box. It returns ICAO and IATA codes, names, tower status, and radio frequencies.

  3. 03

    List terminal forecasts

This capability lists Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF) for specific station IDs or a defined area. It provides the forecast wind, weather, and cloud conditions as issued.

  4. 04

    List observations

This capability lists decoded METAR observations for stations or a geographic area. It includes wind, visibility, ceiling, temperature, and flight category for each station.

Capability set02 / 02

05-07

3 capabilities in this set.

Part of 7 available through NOAA Aviation Weather.

  1. 05

    Get pilot reports

This capability retrieves pilot reports (PIREPs) near an airport or within a bounding box. It captures actual in-flight reports of turbulence and icing at specific flight levels.

  2. 06

    List significant weather

This capability lists active SIGMETs and AIRMETs over the contiguous United States. It includes details on convective, turbulence, icing, and low-ceiling hazards, including altitude and movement.

  3. 07

    Summarize area conditions

This capability aggregates observations, SIGMETs, and pilot reports for a specific area in one request. It provides a single view of flight categories and reported hazards for a region.

One connector, every AI

NOAA Aviation Weather works with the most popular AI clients.

These are the most popular clients, each with a step-by-step guide: one link, set up once, with governance and visibility built in. And because everything runs on the MCP standard, the same connection also works in any other compatible client — nothing to rebuild.

Building your own app? The connector is yours to use.

You don't need a client to put NOAA Aviation Weather to work: the same hosted connection plugs into your own applications and agent code, with the same governance on every request. Build with it, chat with it — one connection for both.

Preview access · not provider authentication

The vk_preview_* token belongs to Vinkius preview infrastructure. It lets Claude discover and display the capabilities of NOAA Aviation Weather, so you can see the experience inside your AI.

It does not authenticate your account with NOAA Aviation Weather. Actions requiring credentials or live account data may not run until you activate the Connector and authorize the service.

Who it's for

Built for the work NOAA Aviation Weather owners hand off.

This MCP is built for aviation professionals who need to move from raw weather data to operational decisions quickly.

  • 01

    Flight Dispatchers

They hand off the task of monitoring weather trends and hazard updates to the agent.

  • 02

    Pilots

They use the agent to quickly check terminal forecasts and recent pilot reports for turbulence.

  • 03

    Flight Planners

They rely on the agent to identify SIGMETs and icing hazards that might require re-routing.

FAQ

Questions NOAA Aviation Weather owners ask.

  • 01

Do I need an API key?

No. This reads the public NOAA Aviation Weather Center Data API, which requires no key or account.

  • 02

Why is my airport code rejected?

The observation endpoints take the 4-letter ICAO code only. KLAX, not LAX or ORD. Call find_airports with a bounding box (south, west, north, east) around the place and read the ICAO column; "@TX" is also accepted as a station list meaning every station in Texas.

  • 03

What do VFR, MVFR, IFR and LIFR mean?

They are flight categories the source derives from ceiling and visibility: VFR is fine for visual flying, MVFR is marginal, IFR requires instrument qualification and LIFR is the worst. the conditions that hold departures and divert arrivals. summarize_area_conditions counts them across a region.

  • 04

What is a pilot report and why would I trust it?

A PIREP is what a crew actually met in flight. turbulence or icing at a stated flight level, with the aircraft type and an intensity from LGT to SEV. It is the only measurement of conditions between the ground and cruise, and it is voluntary: an empty answer usually means nobody found anything worth reporting.

  • 05

Why are there no SIGMETs for my region outside the United States?

This reads the domestic SIGMET and AIRMET products, which cover the contiguous United States. Observations themselves are global. METARs are filed for airports worldwide. but the hazard products are US-only, so summarize_area_conditions lists SIGMETs only for boxes over the US.
