How to audit content hierarchies with your AI

Connect Amplience once. After that, your agent handles the heavy lifting of traversing your entire content tree.

Ask AI about this page

Short answer

How can I audit my content hierarchy using AI?

Your agent uses the Amplience MCP to walk through every hub, repository, and folder in your account. It builds a complete map of your assets so you can spot missing files or messy structures. You'll get a clear view of your entire content landscape.

Audit outcomes

Where your audit results land.

The AI organizes the data it finds into these specific categories.

STRUCTURE

Complete asset maps

The agent crawls your hierarchy to produce a full list of every folder and repository. You get a bird's-eye view of how everything is organized.

GAPS

Missing content detection

By comparing folder contents, the agent identifies where assets are missing or where repositories are empty. This highlights exactly where your structure breaks down.

CLEANUP

Redundancy reports

The agent flags duplicate assets or deeply nested folders that make navigation difficult. You'll know exactly which areas need flattening.

HUMAN

Manual review needed

The AI identifies structural inconsistencies but won't move or delete files. You decide which folders to merge or rename based on its findings.

The workflow

What your AI does when the audit starts.

The agent moves through your Amplience environment in a logical sequence to gather data.

  1. Identify hubs

The agent first finds all available hubs in your Amplience account to establish the top level of the hierarchy.

    list_hubs
  2. Locate repositories

Once the hubs are identified, the agent looks inside each one to find all associated repositories.

    list_repositories
  3. Map folder trees

The agent dives into each repository to list every folder and subfolder, building a full path for every asset.

    list_folders
  4. Analyze structure

The agent compares the gathered folder paths and repository lists to find inconsistencies or empty branches.

  • List all the hubs in my Amplience account and tell me which ones are empty.

  • Walk through the 'Marketing' repository and show me the full folder hierarchy.

  • Check all repositories in the 'Global' hub and find any folders that don't follow our naming convention.

  • Map out every folder inside the 'Product_Assets' repository so I can see the nesting depth.

FAQ

How the audit behaves

  • 01

Can the AI delete folders for me?

No. The agent can only read and list your structure. You have to perform any deletions or moves yourself.

  • 02

Will this change my content permissions?

No. The agent only has read access to list hubs, repositories, and folders. It cannot modify user roles or permissions.

  • 03

Can it see the actual files inside the folders?

The agent uses the folder and repository tools to see the structure and names, but it does not download or read the binary content of the files themselves.

  • 04

Does it work with all Amplience accounts?

Yes, as long as you have the Amplience MCP connected and the necessary permissions to view the hubs and the repositories.

  • 05

Can I ask it to create a new repository?

No. The current tools only allow the agent to list existing hubs, repositories, and folders.
