How to test RAG pipelines with your AI client

Connect Flowise to your AI client once. After that, you can trigger chatflow executions and inspect results without switching tabs.

Ask AI about this page

Short answer

How can I test my RAG logic without leaving my IDE?

You can trigger live predictions on any existing Flowise chatflow using your AI client. This lets you verify how your RAG logic responds to specific prompts in real time. You'll see exactly how your retrieval and generation steps behave with new data.

What happens when you run a test.

LOGIC

Verify RAG accuracy

The AI runs a prediction on a specific chatflow. You get immediate feedback on whether your retrieval logic is pulling the right context.

FLOWS

Identify target flows

The AI pulls a list of your available chatflows. This ensures you are testing the exact version of the pipeline you intended.

DEBUG

Spot logic errors

By sending varied inputs, you can see where the chain breaks. This helps you refine your prompts or vector store queries.

HUMAN

Manual adjustments

The AI cannot modify your Flowise nodes. You'll need to jump into the Flowise UI if you decide to change the actual graph structure.

The workflow

What your AI does when the test starts.

The AI acts as the bridge between your chat interface and your Flowise environment.

  1. Find your flows

The AI looks up your existing work in Flowise so you can pick which pipeline to test.

    list_chatflows
  2. Select a target

You tell the AI which specific chatflow ID you want to run a test against.

    list_chatflows
  3. Execute prediction

The AI sends your test prompt to the Flowise engine to get a live response.

    predict
  4. Deliver response

The AI presents the output from the chatflow directly in your current chat window.

FAQ

Common questions

  • 01

Can the AI change my Flowise nodes?

No. The AI can only run predictions or list flows. You must use the Flowise UI to edit your logic or nodes.

  • 02

Can I delete a chatflow through my AI client?

No. This MCP only provides tools to list and predict. It does not have permission to delete or modify your flows.

  • 03

Do I need to keep the Flowise dashboard open?

No. Once connected, your AI client communicates with Flowise through the Vinkius host.

  • 04

Can I test multiple inputs at once?

You can ask your AI to run multiple predictions one after another, but it executes them as individual requests.

  • 05

How does the AI know which flow to use?

You can either tell it the specific name or ID, or ask it to list your flows first so you can identify the right one.
