Short answer
How can I use my AI to manage LiteLLM API keys?
Your AI uses LiteLLM tools to generate new keys, check their current status, or delete them instantly. This allows you to hand out specific credentials to different agents or services and kill them the moment they are done.
Key management outcomes.
What you can do with your agent.
Delegate the tedious parts of credential management to your AI.
ACCESS
New service keys
The AI creates a fresh key for a specific provider. You get a unique credential to use for a new project or agent.
AUDIT
Key status checks
Your agent pulls details on existing keys. You can see exactly what is active and what is currently in use.
SECURITY
Instant revocation
The AI removes access by deleting a key. This stops any further spend or usage on that specific credential immediately.
HUMAN
Manual oversight
You decide when a key is too sensitive for the AI to handle. You retain the final say on which high-level permissions are created.
The workflow
What your AI does when you request key changes.
Your agent acts as the interface between your chat and the LiteLLM proxy.
Create access
The AI generates a new, unique API key for the service you specify.
generate_keyVerify details
The agent looks up the metadata or usage info for a specific key.
get_key_infoRemove access
The AI wipes a key from the system to prevent further use.
delete_keyConfirm status
The agent checks the current state of your keys to ensure the requested changes worked.

How the LiteLLM management works.
- 01
Can my AI change the spending limits on a key?
No. The AI can only generate, view, or delete keys. You must manage budget limits directly in your LiteLLM dashboard.
- 02
Will the AI delete all my keys if I ask it to clean up?
No. The AI only deletes the specific key you identify in your prompt. It cannot perform bulk deletions unless you explicitly command it to do so for a specific list.
- 03
Can I see the actual secret value of a key after it is created?
The AI can only retrieve information provided by the get_key_info tool. If the proxy does not return the raw secret, the AI cannot see it.
- 04
Does the AI need my LiteLLM admin password?
No. You connect the MCP via Vinkius, which handles the connection securely. Your agent only uses the tools provided by the manifest.
- 05
Can the AI create keys for other users in my organization?
The AI can only perform actions that your connected LiteLLM credentials allow. If your account lacks permission, the AI cannot bypass it.
