Ask AI about this page

Short answer

How can I use AI to track competitor prices?

You tell your AI to start a scrape, wait for it to finish, and then pull the results. This lets you feed live pricing data directly into your agent for comparison. You get a continuous loop of fresh data and immediate insights.

The results of your task.

Where your data lands.

The AI handles the scraping and data retrieval so you can focus on the strategy.

DATA

Fresh pricing feeds

The AI pulls raw scraped data from your completed tasks. You get clean lists of prices, product names, and URLs.

MONITORING

Live task tracking

Your agent checks on running scrapes to see if they are finished or still working. You don't have to manually refresh a dashboard.

ANALYSIS

Instant price comparisons

Once the data is pulled, your AI compares your prices against competitors. It identifies gaps or price drops immediately.

HUMAN

Strategic decisions

The AI provides the numbers, but you decide how to react. You use the data to set new price points or launch sales.

The workflow

What your AI does when the scrape starts.

The AI handles the heavy lifting of interacting with the web scraper so you can focus on the numbers.

  1. Trigger the scrape

Your AI tells Octoparse to begin a specific web scraping task. This kicks off the data collection process on the target site.

    start_task
  2. Watch the progress

The agent periodically checks if the scraping job is done. It monitors the status so it knows exactly when the data is ready.

    get_task_status
  3. Fetch the results

As soon as the task hits a completed state, the AI pulls the scraped content. This brings the price data into your conversation.

    get_task_data
  4. Analyze the data

The AI processes the raw text and numbers it just retrieved. It organizes the pricing info into a format you can actually use.

    get_task_data

FAQ

How this task behaves.

  • 01

Can the AI change my Octoparse settings?

No. The AI can only start tasks, check status, and pull data. It cannot modify your existing scraper configurations.

  • 02

Does the AI delete my scraped data?

No. The AI only reads the data once a task is finished. It has no capability to delete files or tasks from your account.

  • 03

How does the AI know when a scrape is finished?

The AI uses the status tool to check the progress of the task until it sees a completed status.

  • 04

Can I run multiple scrapes at once?

Yes. You can ask your AI to start multiple different tasks, and it will track them individually.

  • 05

Can the AI fix a failed scrape?

No. If a scrape fails due to a website change or a selector error, the AI can only report that the task failed. You must fix the scraper in Octoparse yourself.
