Short answer
How can I restart my microservices using AI?
You tell your AI to restart a specific service, and it uses Qovery to execute a rolling restart. This refreshes your pods or applies new configurations without dropping traffic. You get a controlled deployment instead of a hard shutdown.
Deployment outcomes
What you get
The results of your command.
DEPLOY
Rolling restarts
The AI triggers a deployment that replaces pods one by one. Your service stays online throughout the entire process.
CONFIG
Configuration refreshes
The AI cycles your services to pick up updated environment variables or settings. This ensures your running code matches your latest config.
STATUS
Deployment tracking
Your AI monitors the restart progress. You'll know exactly when the new pods are healthy and ready to take traffic.
HUMAN
Manual intervention
If a rollout fails or a health check doesn't pass, the AI stops and asks you to step in. You retain final control over failed deployments.
The workflow
What your AI does when the command arrives.
The AI translates your intent into a deployment instruction.
Identify the target
Your AI looks through your Qovery environment to find the specific service or application you mentioned.
restart_applicationValidate the request
The agent checks if the service exists and if the requested restart is possible within your current deployment setup.
restart_applicationExecute the restart
The AI calls the deployment tool to start the rolling update process for the selected microservice.
restart_applicationConfirm health
The AI waits for the new pods to pass their readiness checks before telling you the task is finished.

How the restart task behaves
- 01
Will my service go offline during a restart?
No. The AI uses rolling restarts to ensure new pods are healthy before the old ones are removed, maintaining availability.
- 02
Can the AI delete my entire environment?
No. The Qovery connector only has the ability to restart applications. It cannot delete services, environments, or infrastructure.
- 03
Does the AI handle rollbacks if the restart fails?
The AI can detect a failed restart, but the actual logic for rolling back to a previous version is a manual decision you make after the AI reports the error.
- 04
Can I restart multiple services at once?
Yes, you can ask your AI to restart a group of services or list them individually in a single prompt.
- 05
Can the AI change my environment variables?
No. The AI can only trigger a restart to apply changes you have already made in Qovery. It cannot edit the variables themselves.
