  What is the Apgar score used for?

  The Apgar score is a clinical capability used to assess a newborn's health immediately after birth. It measures five key parameters—heart rate, breathing, muscle tone, reflex irritability, and skin color—to give a standardized vitality score.

  Do I need to provide scores or measurements?

  You must provide the raw physiological measurements for the five parameters. The MCP uses those measurements to calculate the final score, which is what you need to track.

  Can I track if the baby is getting better?

  Yes. You can use the comparison capability to track trends. By comparing scores from two different time intervals, the MCP tells you if the baby's condition is improving, stable, or declining.

  The MCP is designed to handle clinical inputs. If you provide values outside the standard 0-2 range, the capability will guide you or flag the input so you can correct the data.

  The Apgar score is a rapid assessment used to evaluate a newborn's physical condition and determine if immediate medical intervention is required.

  How do I use the compute_apgar_at_interval capability?

  Provide the scores (0, 1, or 2) for heart rate, respiratory effort, muscle tone, reflex irritability, and skin color. The capability will return the total score, clinical classification, and recommended action.

  Yes, use the compare_apgar_intervals capability by providing the 1-minute and 5-minute total scores to see if the infant's condition is improving, stable, or declining.
