  How does this MCP handle authentication?

  It uses OAuth 2.0 with a refresh token flow. Vinkius manages the refresh token to automatically exchange it for a 60-minute Bearer access token.

  Can I add skills to employee profiles?

  Yes, if your tenant has Skills Cloud enabled and your API Client has the Staffing write scope, you can use the add_worker_skill capability.

  It works with any MCP-compatible client, including Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code.

  The agent can access the people directory, direct reports, organizational headcount, and inbox tasks for any worker, provided the credentials have the correct permissions.

  Is this using the official Workday API?

  Yes, this MCP is built on the official Workday REST API v3.

  How do I get the credentials this MCP needs?

  In your Workday tenant (admin role): 1) 'Register API Client for Integrations' → Client ID + Secret, granting Staffing/Talent scopes; 2) 'Manage Refresh Tokens for Integrations' → generate a refresh token for an Integration System User. Refresh tokens do not expire; the MCP converts them to 60-minute Bearer tokens automatically.

  The published Workday MCP covers workers, payroll, time off and supervisory orgs. This one is the talent angle: the people directory (all persons), direct reports, inbox tasks, Skills Cloud (read + write) and cross-type organizations. no overlapping capabilities.
