Your AI does the work. We keep it safe and sound.

No other AI tool gives you this. Your workflow runs in the client you already love, your account stays protected, and you decide what the agent can and cannot do. It is the whole reason to make the switch.

Each Connector lives inside our infrastructure, the same place where your workflow runs. The three things below are already part of it, working quietly in the background so you never have to think about them. Nothing to add, nothing to set up, nothing to worry about.

A futuristic MCP client docking bay
V8 Isolate01

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed environment.

Each Connector runs inside its own sealed V8 runtime — no access to your files, your system, or other servers. A Connector never sees past its own request.

Kill Switch02

One switch stops every agent. Instantly.

One action deactivates every Connector, revokes every token, and ends every session at once. AI Governance keeps the record.

FinOps per User03

Spending limits that pause instead of surprise.

Every user keeps their own connections and credentials, isolated from everyone else. Anything that would cross your spending limit is held for your approval, not billed.

Three controls, built into the layer your AI connects through.

Real work

What teams actually run

01

Kickstarting a New Initiative

Need to start a new project? Use the MCP to create the project and immediately get the necessary IDs for the message board and to-do set.

02

Daily Task Check-in

Ask your agent to list all pending to-dos for the week, checking assignees and due dates in one go.

03

Status Update

A teammate finished a task. Use the MCP to mark the to-do as complete and then add a comment confirming the handoff.

04

Team Roster Check

Before assigning a task, use the MCP to list all people in the project to confirm the correct assignee ID.

Automate a task

Put Basecamp to work on one thing.

Step-by-step automations your AI runs through this Connector: the workflow, the prompts to start with, and the exact capabilities behind each move.

One connector, every AI

Basecamp works with the most popular AI clients.

These are the most popular clients, each with a step-by-step guide: one link, set up once, with governance and visibility built in. And because everything runs on the MCP standard, the same connection also works in any other compatible client — nothing to rebuild.

Building your own app? The connector is yours to use.

You don't need a client to put Basecamp to work: the same hosted connection plugs into your own applications and agent code, with the same governance on every request. Build with it, chat with it — one connection for both.

Preview access · not provider authentication

The vk_preview_* token belongs to Vinkius preview infrastructure. It lets Claude discover and display the capabilities of Basecamp, so you can see the experience inside your AI.

It does not authenticate your account with Basecamp. Actions requiring credentials or live account data may not run until you activate the Connector and authorize the service.

FAQ

Questions Basecamp owners ask.

  • 01

Does this MCP handle file sharing?

The MCP focuses on managing the structure of the project, including message boards, to-do sets, and schedules. While Basecamp is a file-sharing platform, the MCP's capabilities manage the metadata and actions around the files, not the files themselves.

  • 02

How do I find the IDs needed for the capabilities?

You can use the list_projects capability to get a list of all projects, which includes the necessary IDs for the dock capabilities. You can also use get_project for full details on a specific project.

  • 03

Can I update a project's name or description?

Yes, you can use the update_project capability. You just need to provide at least a new name or description, and the MCP handles the update.

  • 04

Is this only for active projects?

No. The list_projects capability allows you to filter by status, so you can check for 'archived' or 'trashed' projects if needed.

  • 05

What if a task was completed by mistake?

If a task was completed but needs to be reworked, you can use the uncomplete_todo capability. This marks the task as pending again, keeping it active in the list.

  • 06

Can I create a to-do and assign it to a team member directly via the AI agent?

Yes! Use the create_todo capability with the to-do list ID, content, and the assignee person IDs. You can also set a due date. The to-do will be created and assigned instantly in Basecamp.

  • 07

How do I find the to-do list ID I need to create tasks in?

First, use get_project to retrieve the project details. the dock will contain the todoset ID. Then use the Basecamp UI or the to-do set to find your specific to-do list IDs within that project.

  • 08

Can I mark a to-do as completed and later reopen it if needed?

Absolutely. Use the complete_todo capability to mark a to-do as done, and uncomplete_todo to reopen it. This only affects the completion status. the to-do remains active and visible in the project.
