  What years of active travel data are available?

  The MCP provides walking and cycling survey data for the 2010/11 and 2017/18 periods.

  How do I filter bicycle hire data by date?

  You can use the bicycle_hires_daily capability with ISO formatted dates (YYYY-MM-DD) to set your search range.

  Yes, the bicycle hire capabilities provide data for Santander Cycles (formerly known as Cycle Hire).

  Yes, all data is pulled from the London open-data platform (data.london.gov.uk).

  No. data.london.gov.uk publishes every dataset as an anonymous file download (CSV or Excel). This MCP defines no credentials and needs nothing configured.

  What do the 5x / 20x / 40x per week frequencies mean?

  The survey asks respondents how many times per week they walk or cycle. 5x-per-week is the everyday-use slice and the default for the ranking and overview capabilities; 20x and 40x are the heavier-use slices. Pick the frequency you are comparing.

  Which hire scheme is in the daily series?

  The TFL daily counts come from the city's Sycamore (dockless) hire scheme: each row is one calendar day and the hires recorded that day. Per-year totals and the busiest day come from aggregating those rows.

• 09

  Why are London, Inner London and England out of the ranking?

  The ranking compares local authorities against each other; the city-wide and England rows are aggregates, not an authority, so they are excluded by default. Use active_travel_lookup to read those aggregate rows directly.
