  How does it find duplicates if the variable names are different?

  The MCP uses a normalization process that anonymizes variables. This allows it to see the underlying structural similarity regardless of what the variables are named.

  No, it strips comments and whitespace during the normalization process to focus strictly on the code logic.

  Exact matches are structurally identical after normalization. Near matches are code blocks that are highly similar but contain slight variations.

  It uses identify_exact_duplicates to find identical structures via hashing and identify_near_matches for similar blocks using Levenshtein distance.
