BigQuery-Driven SMS Messaging

`send_sms` triggers text messages directly from your Google ADK agent using phone numbers queried from BigQuery. Your agent analyzes customer segments in your database, then uses this tool alongside `send_mms` to send targeted alerts. Because Gemini models handle massive context windows, your agent can process thousands of database rows and generate highly personalized message payloads in a single run. The ADK executes these sends sequentially without dropping connection state.

Gemini-Powered Campaign Audits via MCP Server

`list_campaigns` retrieves your active 10DLC registration details for your Google ADK agent to analyze. The agent cross-references these details with your enterprise compliance policies stored in Google Cloud Storage using `get_campaign` to flag discrepancies. This integration lets you run continuous audits on your messaging traffic. The MCP Server provides direct access to your registration status, letting Gemini handle the legal compliance checks.

Automated Messaging Health Monitoring

`get_health` checks the operational status of the Bandwidth API directly from your Google ADK runtime. Your monitoring agent runs this check periodically and writes the latency metrics to Vertex AI to predict delivery delays. If the API health check returns an error, your agent can automatically query `list_messages` to see if outbound SMS delivery rates are dropping. This proactive monitoring keeps your enterprise communication channels stable.

Setup guide

Set up Bandwidth MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Bandwidth tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Bandwidth_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Bandwidth tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Bandwidth MCP in Google ADK

Install google-adk and define an McpToolset using the streamable HTTP transport URL. Pass this toolset instance inside the tools list when initializing your LlmAgent.
Yes, your agent can use list_media to locate files and download them for multimodal analysis. Gemini's large context window allows the agent to inspect these media assets alongside your database records.
You can apply a tool_names filter when initializing your McpToolset. This ensures the agent only accesses tools like get_toll_free while blocking write operations.
Yes, the ADK supports both Stdio and HTTP transports. For enterprise deployments on Google Cloud, we recommend using our managed HTTP endpoint to avoid local process overhead.
Your campaign registration details and media files are processed in transit through ephemeral, zero-trust isolates. No message metadata is cached or written to persistent storage, keeping your telecom compliance data secure.
