Standardize BigCommerce data in VS Code

Commit your config to `.vscode/mcp.json` so every dev on your team uses the same tools. Everyone gets the same access to `list_products` and catalog data. This ensures your team builds features using consistent store metadata. It removes the friction of manual configuration across different machines.

Debug BigCommerce orders in VS Code

Use `list_orders` to pull recent store activity directly into the Copilot chat. It helps the whole team investigate issues with live context. Your developers can call `get_order_details` to inspect specific sales. It turns your editor into a powerful store management console.

Check BigCommerce store settings

Run `get_store_info` to confirm environment variables across your team. It keeps everyone aligned on the correct store configuration. This MCP server acts as a single source of truth for your store data. Your team can now query your catalog and customer records without leaving VS Code.

Setup guide

Set up BigCommerce MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the BigCommerce MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the BigCommerce tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent BigCommerce transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
