Connect Box MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Box to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Direct Box workspace provisioning inside Cline
The `create_folder` tool lets Cline set up fresh directories in Box without you leaving VS Code. You can tell Cline to create a root-level folder by specifying parent ID "0", and it will handle the API call instantly. After creating the folder, Cline uses `create_collaboration` to grant access to your team members. It binds their email addresses to roles like viewer or editor, making user onboarding a hands-off task.
Smart Box search and metadata queries
The `search_content` tool allows Cline to scan your Box account for specific files or folders when you only know a partial name or keyword. Cline runs the search, gets the matching IDs, and continues its task. For deeper file verification, Cline triggers `get_file_info` to check file sizes, SHA1 hashes, and version numbers. It can also run `get_folder_info` to inspect modified dates and creator details before modifying files.
Automated file cleanup via this MCP Server
The `delete_file` tool lets Cline remove redundant files from your cloud storage. When cleaning up build artifacts or old logs, Cline targets the file ID directly to keep your Box space tidy. If Cline needs to clear out an entire directory, it calls `delete_folder`. When the target folder is not empty, Cline automatically sets the recursive parameter to true to wipe all nested files.
