How to Use the CARTO MCP in Cursor
Inject live spatial data and routing geometry into your code with CARTO and Cursor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect CARTO MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect CARTO to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Automate spatial analysis in Cursor
Let your agent write code that interacts with your data warehouse using `execute_sql_query`. You'll see the AI generate actual SQL for your spatial operations. When your queries hit the one-minute limit, the agent can switch to `create_async_sql_job`. This keeps your workflow moving while the heavy lifting happens in the background.
Build routing features with Cursor
Use `calculate_route` to pull real-world driving durations and distances into your application logic. The agent can take these GeoJSON outputs and wire them directly into your map components. It eliminates the need to mock your routing data. You get the actual coordinates and timing metrics required to build functional navigation features.
Automate data ingestion in Cursor
Import external files into your warehouse by calling `import_external_file` from your editor. The agent can monitor the load using `get_import_status` until the table is ready for use. This workflow lets you update your datasets without switching context. You spend less time moving files and more time writing the features that use them.
