Build Components with Live Data

This isn't just about fetching data; it's about what Cline does with it. Give Cline a task like, 'Build a React component to display the latest orders'. It will use `cdata_execute_query` to get the order data from your database, then write the actual component code, import statements and all. Cline handles the entire workflow. It finds the right data source with `cdata_list_connections`, inspects the schema with `cdata_get_table_columns`, pulls the data, and writes the code that uses it. You get a working file, not just a JSON blob.

Manage Data Sources from Your Editor

You don't have to leave VS Code to manage your CData configuration. Tell Cline to add a new data source, and it will use the `cdata_create_connection` tool to set it up. It can also list your current workspaces and connections with `cdata_list_workspaces` and `cdata_list_connections`. This MCP Server turns Cline into a data operations center. You can ask it to check if a connection is active using `cdata_test_connection`. Cline will run the check and confirm its status right in the chat, saving you a trip to a dashboard.

Generate Typed Code from Your Schema

Cline can use the schema information from CData to write better, safer code. When it inspects a table with `cdata_get_table_columns`, it gets the exact column names and data types. This means it can generate typed interfaces or classes for your data models automatically. This goes way beyond simple data fetching. You can ask Cline to 'create a TypeScript interface for the users table,' and it will use the schema tools to get the structure and then write the code. It's a huge time-saver and reduces errors.

Common questions about CData Connect Cloud MCP in Cline

Open the Cline sidebar in VS Code and go to the MCP Servers panel. You can install CData Connect Cloud from the Marketplace tab with one click. Once connected, Cline will automatically have access to all the data tools.
Yes, that's a perfect use case. You can ask Cline to 'write a test for the checkout function using mock data from the products table'. Cline will use `cdata_execute_query` to pull a few sample products and then write a test file that uses that real-world data.
The difference is that Cline doesn't just show you the data, it builds with it. Other tools might dump a JSON response. Cline takes that response and uses it to write code, create files, and complete end-to-end development tasks inside your IDE.
Cline asks the CData MCP Server. It uses tools like `cdata_list_tables` and `cdata_get_schema_metadata` to explore your connections. This lets it work autonomously without you needing to feed it schema details.
Your credentials for CData are handled by the MCP Server and are not stored long-term. The Vinkius platform processes operations in isolated, single-use environments. All data, including query contents and API keys, is handled ephemerally and is gone after the request finishes.
