Debate build status in AutoGen

Let your agents use `get_workflow_details` to verify build integrity. One agent checks the status while another challenges the result if logs show errors. This debate ensures that only verified information reaches your notification channel. The agents converge on a consensus before acting.

Autonomous pipeline management for AutoGen

Assign an agent to trigger builds via `trigger_cci_pipeline` when specific criteria are met. Other agents monitor the progress using `list_workflow_jobs`. This creates a closed-loop system for your deployments. Your agents handle the heavy lifting while you verify the final outcome.

Consensus-driven job oversight

Agents use `list_cci_contexts` to evaluate if a build matches current requirements. If the context deviates, the agents negotiate a fix or alert you. They don't just execute commands. They deliberate on the best path forward based on your organization's specific settings.

Setup guide

Set up CircleCI MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes CircleCI tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="CircleCI_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent CircleCI data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about CircleCI MCP in AutoGen

Agents utilize the tool adapter to call API functions directly. They discuss the results of each call until they agree on the next logical step.
Yes, by comparing workflow data against your expected pipeline state. Multiple agents weigh in on whether a failure requires a rollback or a retry.
Vinkius handles the underlying authentication. Your agents interact with the server through a secure transport, keeping your credentials hidden from the agents themselves.
They are. You provide the tool to the AssistantAgent, and the agents decide whether the current state warrants a new pipeline run.
The server operates in a zero-trust sandbox. Only the tools you explicitly provide can reach your data, and every request is scoped to your specific endpoint token.
