Trigger Messages from Your Google Cloud Data

Put your Google Cloud data to work. Build a Gemini agent that watches a BigQuery table for new customer signups and automatically sends a welcome text using `send_sms`. Or have it monitor Vertex AI for fraud alerts and use `send_whatsapp` to notify an administrator. Your agent closes the loop between insight and action. It doesn't just find information in your Google data—it uses the Clickatell tools to act on it immediately.

Analyze Communication History with Long Context

Use Gemini's massive context window to understand your messaging data. Your agent can pull an entire message log with `list_message_history` and analyze it in a single pass. It can look for trends, summarize conversations, or find specific interactions without needing to paginate or make multiple calls. Combine that with `get_account_balance` and `list_source_numbers` to build an agent that performs a complete communications audit. It can hold all the data in its context, reason about it, and give you a straight answer.

Manage Channels with an Enterprise MCP Server

Use a Gemini agent as an operations assistant for your communications infrastructure. It can periodically `list_active_channels` to make sure everything is running, or `list_whatsapp_templates` to check for expired or unapproved templates. The agent can report its findings directly to a Google Sheet or trigger a Cloud Function. This isn't just about sending messages; it's about managing the system. This Vinkius MCP Server gives your Google ADK agent the specific endpoints it needs to perform routine checks and maintenance, freeing up your team.

Setup guide

Set up Clickatell MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Clickatell tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Clickatell_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Clickatell tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Clickatell MCP in Google ADK

You instantiate an `McpToolset` in your Python code, providing the unique Vinkius endpoint URL for your Clickatell server. Then you pass that toolset to your `LlmAgent` constructor. The agent will then have access to all the Clickatell functions.
Yes, by default it can use all 12 tools, from `send_sms` to `get_account_info`. The Google ADK also lets you filter the tool list if you want to restrict an agent to a specific subset of Clickatell functions for security or focus.
The tight integration with the Google Cloud ecosystem is the biggest advantage. Your agent can reason with Gemini, read data from BigQuery, and use Clickatell tools to send messages based on that data, all within a single, cohesive framework.
No. The MCP standard and the Google ADK handle the tool definitions for you. You just point the SDK at the Vinkius URL, and it automatically understands how to call each Clickatell tool, including their names and parameters.
Your message history and recipient phone numbers are passed through Vinkius's zero-trust infrastructure, which isolates each request. Since you're operating within Google Cloud, your data is also protected by Google's own security posture, including IAM roles and VPC Service Controls.
