How to Use the CockroachDB Cloud MCP in Cline
Let Cline execute direct management tasks on your CockroachDB Cloud clusters without leaving VS Code.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect CockroachDB Cloud MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect CockroachDB Cloud to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Cline manages node lists
Cline uses `list_cluster_nodes` to pull the exact status of every node in your deployment. It organizes this data so you can see if your distributed database is balanced correctly. It feeds this info back into your coding workflow. You don't have to switch tabs to verify if your cluster is healthy.
Fetch profile info with Cline
The agent calls `get_my_cockroach_profile` to identify which organization context it's operating under. This ensures every command Cline runs hits the right target cluster. It prevents configuration errors by confirming your identity before executing any data retrieval tasks. You get peace of mind knowing the agent is looking at your data.
Cline audits encryption keys
You can tell Cline to list the Customer Managed Keys for your clusters using `list_encryption_keys`. It retrieves the status of your encryption setup to confirm your compliance posture. This tool turns a tedious manual check into a quick query. Cline reads the results and helps you confirm that your encryption strategy is active.
