Collaborative Contentful management with AutoGen

Deploy a writer agent and a reviewer agent that use `list_entries` to find work. They discuss the draft and decide if it meets your quality standards. One agent proposes changes using `update_entry` while the other challenges the tone. They iterate until they agree the content is ready for publication.

Multi-agent consensus on publication

Use `publish_entry` only after your agent team reaches a consensus. This prevents accidental live pushes of unfinished or incorrect drafts. They verify the entry details with `get_entry` before signaling the final approval. The process is fully transparent and documented in your conversation logs.

Dynamic environment navigation

Agents check `list_environments` to ensure they are working in the correct branch. They avoid mistakes by confirming the context before running any tools. This adds a layer of safety to your automated tasks. Agents act as a check against each other, ensuring they operate within the right space.

Setup guide

Set up Contentful MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Contentful tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Contentful_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Contentful data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Contentful MCP in AutoGen

Yes. You define an agent with access to `update_entry`. It can modify fields based on the feedback provided by other agents in the conversation.
They pass messages back and forth, analyzing the output of `get_entry`. If an agent disagrees with a draft, it requests changes until the criteria are met.
All tool calls are logged within the AutoGen conversation history. You can review exactly which agent called `publish_entry` and why.
Install the extension, provide your token, and pass the tool list to your agents. The adapter automatically maps the server tools to agent functions.
The MCP server runs in an isolated sandbox. Your CMS entries are processed only when an agent explicitly calls a tool, and no data is shared outside your authorized connection.
